This course is designed for the first and second-year English-majored students in order to equip them with basic understanding about the history, development process and characteristics of the Vietnamese language; to help them consolidate and strengthen Vietnamese language skills in five primary aspects, which are spelling, lexicon, grammar, styles and texts. From that, students can actively use the mother tongue in an appropriate manner for the purposes of learning and researching, as well as contributing to maintaining the purity and richness of the Vietnamese language. This course is intended to provide 4th year students with opportunities for real class observation and teaching practice, which helps them earn real-life English language teaching experience. Students are expected to apply ELT methodology they have learnt so far into the class teaching. Besides, this course also equips students with opportunities for observing classroom procedure, lesson planning, micro-teaching, actual lesson delivery and how to efficiently manage the classroom activities. In addition, further ESP teaching sessions are facilitated as well.
