Overview
The module provides learners with the basic knowledge of English phonetics and phonology and the International Phonetic Alphabet system (IPA). It helps students to distinguish between spelling, phonics and phonetics in British and American English. At the same time, the module provides learners with knowledge in word stress, sentence stress and intonation. At the end of the course, learners are able to pronounce sounds, words, sentences and short conversation patterns correctly as well as use the English intonation properly.
