On the afternoon of July 6, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed 14 new SARS-CoV-2 cases, raising Vietnam’s patient tally up to 369.
On July 3, after arriving at Van Don Airport in Quang Ninh province, 185 citizens returning from Bangladesh were sent to Bim Son town in Thanh Hoa province to be isolated. On the next morning, they were tested for SARS-CoV-2 at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Thanh Hoa province. The result showed that 14 out of 185 were SARS-CoV-2 positive. These 14 people were tested again in the National Institute of Hygiene and the result was the same. Currently, these 14 patients are isolated and treated at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases No.2.
By 6 p.m on July 6, the addition of the 14 cases results in the total of 229 imported cases which have been quarantined upon arrival. For now, it has been 81 consecutive days since Vietnam has no newly infected COVID-19 cases in the local community.
Simultaneously, the 91st patient (a 43-year-old British pilot) has been treated in Cho Ray Hospital. At present, he is officially reported to fully recover from Covid-19 and can be discharged from the hospital without being in quarantine afterwards. However, he will continue to stay at the hospital for the rehabilitation treatment so that he is able to come back to his country on July 12.
