The Department of Teaching Methodology (DTM), one of the four departments of Faculty of Foreign Languages, is in charge of managing the TESOL Studies program which offers training courses for English-majored students who wish to become qualified English language teachers. Over the past ten years, the DTM has contributed to train many generations of BAs and most of them have successfully found employment in their field of training.
PERSONNEL
The DTM is consisted of 9 lecturers including 3 PhDs, 2 PhD students and 4 MAs, all of whom have high level of qualification with many years of experience in English language teaching, and are always dedicated and enthusiastic in their work.
TEACHING
The DTM is in charge of teaching courses mainly for students of the TESOL Studies program which are related to teaching methodology, material development, testing and assessment, media in ELT, teaching practicum and some Vietnamese courses such as Fundamentals of Vietnamese Culture, World Civilization, Vietnamese Practice, etc.
Over the past few years, the DTM has strived to support students' learning by implementing innovative methods of teaching and assessment, and applying new technology to language teaching and learning.
Since 2019, the DTM has organized some teaching practicum exchange programs with universities in Malaysia and Indonesia and has achieved many positive results.
RESEARCHING
In addition to teaching, lecturers in the Department also devote their time in scientific research. Many have presented at conferences and workshops about language teaching and learning, and published many articles in national and international journals.
FUTURE DEVELOPMENT
In the future, the DTM will:
- enhance professional development;
- continue to innovate methods of teaching and assessment;
- increase teaching practicum exchange programs;
- and organize academic competitions for students.
