Department of Language Skills

The Department of Language Skills is part of the Faculty of Foreign Languages. Our departmental community consists of 10 full-time members with a broad area of expertise and interests. Seven of us specialize in TESOL, one in Applied Linguistics, one in Japanese and one PhD student. Our skilled and motivated teachers are integral to providing positive teaching and learning outcomes for students. We offer undergraduate courses of language skills and linguistics to English-majored students of TESOL studies, Translation and Interpretation and Business English programs. These courses provide students with language background, practice opportunities and hands-on support that will enable them to gain a high level of competence in English.

Department of Teaching Methodology

The Department of Teaching Methodology (DTM), one of the four departments of Faculty of Foreign Languages, is in charge of managing the TESOL Studies program which offers training courses for English-majored students who wish to become qualified English language teachers. Over the past ten years, the DTM has contributed to train many generations of BAs and most of them have successfully found employment in their field of training.

Department of Translation and Interpretation

Department of Translation and Interpretation was formed from the former Department of Language Theory which was in operation from 2007 to 2019. It is also seen as resulting from the 10-year curriculum development plan (2020-2030) of the Faculty of Foreign Languages. The Department administers the translation and interpretation training program in the Faculty.
