This is an advanced course for research assessing and reporting in the area of Business English. It supports students to acquire research literacy, particularly the principles of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Students are introduced to various research genres and required to evaluate actual research studies. They need to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of different research models employed in specific situations and other possible alternatives. Hands-on experience of research procedure within practical scenarios is also provided throughout the course for students to flexibly utilize and appropriately justify a research model for their research. The course provides a comprehensive overview of research paradigms for different methodologies, including narrative, ethnography, case study, and correlational study, and experimental research.

Overview

This project requires each group of 3-5 students to study and do a research project on their own, applying the previously learned knowledge related to business fields such as entrepreneurship, human resources management, international logistics and others. The students can choose a research topic among the suggested ones, or work on a research problem chosen by themselves and approved by their supervisor. This course enables students to synthesize materials effectively, write a project report and improve their presentation skills through presenting their project report in front of a panel.

This course provides students with economic concepts, theories and analytical techniques. It covers both microeconomics and macroeconomics. The use of a market, supply and demand, model will be the fundamental model in which trade-offs and choices will be considered through comparison of costs and benefits of actions. The course also covers macroeconomic issues related to the interaction of goods and services markets, labor and money. The role of government policy to address microeconomic market failures and macroeconomic objectives will be considered.
