Overview

The course is to provide English major sophomores with comprehensive knowledge about information technology in terms of computer, operating system, hard ware, soft ware, data transmission, computer network, multi-media, network safety and data security. In addition, this course aims at enhancing students’ English communication ability in technical contexts and offering students opportunities to develop translation and interpretation skills which are of neccessity for their future career.

G2 Ability to comprehend, summarize and translate documents relevant to information technology; ability to present in English information relevant to information technology basing on abilty to analyze and  synthesize documents relevant to information technology
G3 Group presentation skills on topics relaled to information technology  and communication skills.
G4 Ability to formulate ideas, develop and apply new knowledge and technology in translating and intepreting English documents in Information Technology

Learning Outcomes

G1 Explain a number of basic terminologies used in Information Technology.
Identify features and applications of computer components and classify them (CPU, input/output devices, storage devices …)
Identify regulations, general operating processes of some common softwares (operating system, office applications, graphic applications …)  
G2 Interpret, summarize and translate documents relevant to information technology.
Present information relevant to information technology basing in English on abilty to analyze and  synthesize documents relevant to information technology
G3 Discuss and assign tasks in groups to present topics related to Information Technology.
Develop communicative skills via learning activities.
G4 Formulate positive attitude towards learning English for Information Technology and technial English: self-self-researching, selecting, using images and documents on the internet in English-Vietnamese and Vietnamese-English translation in the era of globalization.
Apply new knowledge and technology in translating, intepreting, editing, correcting as well as evaluating translated documents in the field of English for Information Technology.
