Overview

 

The course is designed for junior students to introduce an overview of interpretation and consecutive interpreting, in particular, prominent theories and types of interpretation, especially emphasizing the code of ethics necessary for interpreters. In addition to theoretical knowledge, students will focus on practising the basic interpretation skills such as memorizing, taking notes, summarizing, etc. while interpreting sentences or short paragraphs (English and Vietnamese) with durations from 30 seconds to 01 minute on popular topics (education, culture, economy, society, science, etc.).

Have knowledge of different types of interpretation, interpretation process, some basic interpretation techniques such as listening comprehension, taking notes, summarizing documents, recording shorthand, memorizing, moral standards for interpreters.

Gain skills to use some basic interpretation techniques such as listening comprehension, writing, summarizing text, doing shorthand, memorizing, public speaking, solving unexpected occupational situations which can happen unexpectedly, and the ability to use English and Vietnamese skillfully in interpretation practice
