Dear students,
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the English Video Contest, an exciting opportunity to celebrate the profound relationships between teachers and students, as well as the bonds among classmates. This contest aims to foster language proficiency, inspire creativity, and boost confidence in English communication.
Theme and Objectives
The primary focus of the contest is to highlight the meaningful connections within the school community. We encourage participants to express their gratitude, share personal anecdotes, and showcase the profound influence their teachers and friends have had on their lives through their video submissions. The theme revolves around Vietnamese Teacher's Day and its significance.
Target Participants
The contest is open to all undergraduate students, including those from the Faculty of Foreign Languages (FFL) and other disciplines. However, FFL students are required to take on primary responsibilities, such as playing main characters and creating story plots.
Video Guidelines
- Participants must submit English-speaking videos with a maximum duration of 5 minutes.
- The content should be original, authentic, and relevant to the Vietnamese Teacher's Day theme.
- We encourage participants to use language creatively, incorporating storytelling, poetry, or other forms of artistic expression.
- Videos must be uploaded on popular social media platforms like TikTok, YouTube, or any other platforms with the public mode enabled.
Prizes and Recognition
We believe in recognizing the efforts of all contestants. Therefore, all participants will receive awarding training points. Additionally, the winners of the contest will receive cash gifts and certificates as follows:
- First prize: 900,000 VND
- Second prize: 600,000 VND
- Third prize: 300,000 VND
- Consolation prizes: 200,000 VND each
Competition Rounds: There are two rounds in this contest.
1. Elimination Round (October 23rd - November 12th)
To participate, students need to fill out an online form providing their information, including student ID numbers, names of team members, email addresses, and video links. The judging panel, consisting of the organizers, Binh and Thuy, will review the submissions and select the top five videos as finalists.
2. Final Round (November 20th)
The selected finalist videos will be showcased to esteemed teachers attending the Vietnamese Teacher's Day celebration. These teachers will serve as judges and evaluate the videos based on language proficiency, creativity, relevance to the theme, emotional impact, and clarity of the message. The winners will be announced, and cash prizes will be awarded accordingly.
Post-Contest Activities
After the contest, certificates of participation will be issued to all contestants. Cash gifts for the winners will be prepared and distributed. We will also gather feedback to improve future contests. The contest results and winners' videos will be shared on the FFL Facebook group and fan page to acknowledge their achievements and promote the success of the contest.
Evaluation Rubric
A. Language Proficiency
- 5 points: Excellent command of English language
- 4 points: Fluent and accurate use of grammar and vocabulary
- 3 points: Good language skills with minor errors
- 2 points: Adequate language skills with noticeable errors
- 1 points: Limited language proficiency with significant errors
B. Creativity
- 5 points: Original and innovative ideas
- 4 points: Unique storytelling techniques or visual elements
- 3 points: Engaging and imaginative execution
- 2 points: Some creative elements, but lacking innovation
- 1 points: Lack of creativity and originality
C. Relevance
- 5 points: Strong connection to the theme of celebrating Teacher's Day
- 4 points: Clearly addresses the relationship between teachers and students
- 3 points: Some relevance to the theme, but lacks focus
- 2 points: Minimal connection to the theme
- 1 points: No relevance to the theme
D. Emotional Impact and Clarity of Message
- 5 points: Evokes strong emotions and effectively conveys a message
- 4 points: Engages the viewer emotionally with a clear message
- 3 points: Some emotional impact, but lacking clarity
- 2 points: Limited emotional impact and unclear message
- 1 points: No emotional impact and unclear message
