My internship is a crucial opportunity that I can apply classroom knowledge and theory to practical situations in a professional environment. In addition to cultivating specialized knowledge, it also allows students dipping their toes in the water to practice many other skills to get used to the working environment in the future.
After two months of working at Viet Uc Translation Company, I feel the internship is very valuable. The day before the internship, our group's instructor - Ms Phuong Thao provided relevant information, reminded us many things such as adapting our own working style to work more effectively with other colleagues in a professional workplace, staying healthy during the COVID-19 outbreak. On the first day of work, my internship group were assigned, allowed to undertake the right job as expected, and worked as translators. The translation work seemed to be uninteresting but brought a wealth of new knowledge. We have access to a wide range of documents, and dossiers in various fields such as commerce, construction, etc. To have a complete translation, we had to try to apply specialized knowledge we have learned, explored and selected from reliable sources. In my personal experience, translating is a multi-stage process but the most important for students is to cultivate knowledge after completing a translation. Because of getting the first job, when encountering considerable difficulties, I asked the enthusiastic help of the instructors and experienced colleagues, I also discussed with friends in the group. That is how I assess my ability and improve the spirit of learning.
Two months, although this amount of time is not enough for me to master all the specialized knowledge and perfect translation skills, what I have learned is more or less extremely valuable. Thanks to the internship, I have the opportunity to do my favourite job, which is an indispensable practical experience to prepare for the future job that I want to pursue. For me, an internship is not solely a procedure to graduate, but it is an itinerary that leaves an indelible impression on my memory.
