Overview

Interpretation 2 course is designed for third-year students in the second semester of Bachelor of English Technical Interpretation/Translation at HCMUTE. Students have an opportunity to master and practice some basic interpreting skills such as understanding, writing, text summarizing, note-taking, memorizing, public speaking, problem-solving and English-Vietnamese improving. Students can be trained by Eng-Viet and Viet-Eng interpreting practices and assignments in class and at home. Those practices are in the length of 2-3 mins with various topics (short lessons, travelling topic-based speeches and talks) in the purpose of helping students develop their appropriate attitudes selectively and constructively towards the academic and economic-social values.

British and American Civilization course helps students (1) be aware of the importance of cultural understanding in the current social-economic situation, (2) obtain the basic knowledge of people and country of United Kingdom and United State through presentations, discussions about geography, history, politics and education, etc. (3) develop reading, analyzing, evaluating skills, and studying social-cultural issues in comparison with Vietnamese culture. Thereby, students not only know the process of formation and development of the two countries but also understand unique features of their population and daily behaviors.
