Translation Theories provide students with basic principles in the field of translation types of translation-interpreting, methods and techniques of translation, the difference between translations English-Vietnamese and Vietnamese-English. In addition, the module also provides learners with an overview of the general concepts and information on translation history, translation and interpreting, and practical exercises. By the end of the course, students are expected to be able to apply translation theories into practice translation and interpretation, and promote their passion for translating.

This course is designed to provide students with talks and lectures about academic and social and natural science topics, and opportunities to discuss/debate follow-up issues. Simultaneously, they can sharpen their critical thinking skills which help them to reason, analyze, synthesize, evaluate, debate, and solve problems. Besides, they have a chance to widen their knowledge of advanced vocabulary, pronunciation, and functional language, which can be used to enhance their English accuracy and fluency in group discussions, debates, informative presentations, proposal presentations, persuasive presentations, negotiations, and conflict management. The course also helps improve such important study skills as working in groups, note-taking, and comprehending long lectures, as well as test-taking skills. The course aims at helping students majoring in Technical Translation & Interpretation to practice text translation, Vietnamese to English and vice versa. Through the course, learners are able to improve their text analysis capacity, consolidate and sharpen their English grammar and vocabulary, significantly apply/ practically use and develop their knowledge of wide ranges of technical translation fields such as Environment Technology, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Regarding course accomplishment, learners are well-equipped with translation’s radical issues, have ability to translate texts of various technical fields, effectively exploit dictionaries, and express enthusiasm for Translation art.
