Overview
This course enables learners to review basic knowledge about different techniques in translating and compiling as well as avoiding mistakes while translating. Students are required to practice translating texts from English into Vietnamese and vice versa at an advanced level: practice translating texts in different fields including economics, politics, culture, technology (IT, Environmental Technology, Engineering, Electrical - Electronics). This course also helps students to improve their English reading comprehension skills, apply grammatical range, enrich lexical resources, vary rhetorical methods, as well as apply knowledge of Vietnamese and British-American culture in translating. At the end of the course, students understand the fundamentals of translating English-Vietnamese and Vietnamese-English. They are also able to efficiently compile texts of various genres at an advanced level, using dictionaries more effectively- either independently or in groups; and love the art of compiling.
