This course provides second-year students majoring in EFL education with fundamental knowledge of popular methods to teach the English language. Characteristics of different groups of learners, effective teaching activities and teachers’ roles in each session or in the whole course are examined to propose teaching practices that best facilitate students’ learning. Topics such as class size or the diversity of learners’ levels are also discussed. Moreover, popular teaching methods used to teach the English language throughout history are also introduced for students to analyze the characteristics of each method and its appropriateness level in particular scenarios. Students are exposed to a set of topics related to classroom management such as grouping, mistake correction and feedback that significantly contribute to the success of a lesson.
