Time passed so quickly, my internship at Viet Uc Translation Service Trading Company Limited was over. This was a meaningful time for me – a final year student in the English language. In the past 2 months, although it was just a short time, I have learnt a lot of useful things, accumulated various valuable experiences for my future career. I have been trained from a lot, from knowledge to important personalities in a real working environment.

Before the internship, my group members were quite concerned about the time and work we would do. Besides, because our internship period took place when the whole country was affected by the outbreak of COVID-19, we are also quite worried. However, with the care and the step-by-step instructions of the instructor – Ms Hua Tran Phuong Thao, we were much more assured.

The process of working, interacting, and experiencing helped me to improve my shortcomings and promote the necessary skills. I feel that I have made a lot of progress and got motivated to continue with the job.  The translation job sounds easy because we are language students. However, when I put myself in the position of a translator, I realized how difficult and challenging this job is. A translator needs to ensure the quality of the translation, correctly convey the information of the original document, especially for legal documents.

During my internship, I had a great opportunity to apply the theories and skills I learnt at university into a real professional environment. Thanks to this opportunity, I knew how to select languages, how to use different styles of writing for different types of translated documents. Besides, I also learned how to use translation tools effectively. Above all, I felt very lucky to be working with very enthusiastic and friendly instructors who were always ready to help and explain when we were in trouble.
Unfortunately, my internship must end a week earlier than expected due to the impact of the epidemic. Although the internship period is not long, it will be a beautiful and memorable experience for me.
