I got to experience a two-month internship at SportyMind Company, albeit short, providing me with valuable insights into my specialization in Translation and Interpretation. This is truly a wonderful period for my classmates and me to accumulate new hands-on experiences and sharpen my inherent translation and soft skills.
During the 8-week internship, something seems to be old but new to me. Firstly, it’s so fortunate for me to intern under the instruction of one of our lecturers in the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Mr.Tin, who I’ve never thought to directly work with before, despite joining in his class once. Honestly, the way he instructs our intern team seems to be different from what he did in the class. He clarifies uncertainties for us, gives us sincere comments with his delightful sense of humor so that we all feel comfortable to freely share our ideas in meetings. Also, I experience this internship with 3 other interns who are also my best classmates and let me know how trusted a co-worker is. Not only did we support each other in working, but we also went to work, spent lunchtime and got off work together. Moreover, although I used to practice working with books before, I have found more interesting things from the internship. The process of translation of a paper, indeed, doesn’t differentiate from the way we are taught. The only highlight is that the tasks assigned to our team include what I haven’t exposed to for long. They range from the implications of words to the structure of the texts. It may challenge me at first; however, I then have had the chance to test my knowledge, and consequently, sharpen and widen it to prepare for a better future.
In closing, spending the last semester of the candidature in such a flexible working environment with the close team truly was a memorable experience of my lifetime.
